עסקים היא המילה המתארת, ארגונים מסחריים, אינדיבידואליים, בעלי מטרות רווח, או כל ישות כלכלית אינדיבידואלית אחרת, והיא מייצגת את הפעילות המסחרית.
עסקים נוסדים על מנת לבצע פעילויות כלכליות. מלבד יוצאי דופן (כמו ארגונים ללא מטרת רווח, מוסדות ממשלתיים וארגונים אחרים), עסקים הם מוסדות למטרות רווח. כלומר, מטרתו של בעל העסק והעסק כולו היא החזר כספי בעבור הזמן והמאמץ שמושקע.
ישנן דרכים רבות לסווג ולחלק ל"מינים" את הישויות העסקיות. ישנם עסקים נותני שירות, עסקים המייצרים מוצרים במפעל או עסקים המפיצים מוצרים לצרכן.
