简体中文是现代中文的一种标准化写法，与繁体中文（又稱正体中文）相对。简体中文主要由传承字以及1950年代以后中华人民共和国政府开始在中国大陆地区推行的简化字所组成。

簡體中文通常被等同於中國大陸現在的中文用字系統（規範漢字），不過其實此系統和台灣、香港的用字系統的差異除了簡繁漢字本身的分別外，也有很大部份源於不同的異體字選擇和字形的分別，所以“簡體中文”的筆劃不一定較少；例如台港用的“-{強}-”字，大陸用的是“-{强}-”，筆劃還比較多。

目前，简体中文主要在中国大陆、马来西亚、新加坡，以及东南亚的一些华人社区中使用。過去簡體中文與繁體中文並存於聯合國各式文件中，然而中華民國於1971年退出聯合國後，目前聯合國中無成員國家使用繁體中文字體。

@Vinko Yes, Eason Chan... the songs are in Cantonese, but they're written in Simplified Chinese instead of Traditional (e.g. 單車 >> 单车)
